Features that are added to the Map as reference files are read-only, if you want to edit the source data, you must activate the corresponding source file first. The Map Manager offers an easy way to start such an edit session: Make Active for Edit. This activates the Reference file with the selected features in it while attaching all other files as references. More details are available in the Bentley Map Help document.

To edit source data:
1. On the Map Manager | Layers tab, right-click on the feature to be edited from source and choose Make Active for Edit.

2. You can use the Command Manager to place and edit features or the Data browser to edit feature property values.

3. When finished editing the data, right-click on the feature again in the Map Manager and choose Stop Editing.
