Merge Command in Bentley Descartes

TheMergetoolisusedtocopyandmergeoneormoreimagescontainedwithinadefinedareaand rasterizethe vectors elements intotherasteroutput file.Italsoprovidesthe optiontocreatemultiple output rasters rather thanasingleoutputfileandtochangethe resolutionofthefinalimages.

 
 
    
 
 
 

TheMerge Optionsdialogbox provides anumber ofoptionsthatareused todefinethecharacteristicsoftheoutputfilecreatedwiththe Mergetool.

 
 
 

TheOptions sectioncontainsthe followingsettings:

 

ElementstoProcess-Determineswhattoprocessandcanbeoneofthefollowingthreeoptions: VectorsOnly,RastersOnly orRastersandVectors.


UseLineMapping-Thissetting isusedtodefine howvectorelementswill bestampedonto theraster.Ifthissettingisturnedon, vectorswillbe rasterized asdefinedinthecurrentlinemappingattributes.Ifthissettingisturnedoff,thenthelineswill be rasterized using thefollowing defaults:

 

Weight 0isonepixelin width, weight1istwopixelsinwidth,weight2isthreepixelsinwidthandsoforth.

 

Forlinestyles, thefollowing defaultdash/gappatternswill apply:LC=0Continuous.

LC=1(Dot)2pixel dash; 6 pixel gap.LC=2(Dash)6 pixel dash;2 pixelgap

LC=3(Long Dash) 12 pixeldash; 4pixelgap

 

LC=4(Dash;Dot) 8 pixeldash, 3 pixelgap,2 pixeldash, 3 pixelgapLC=5(ShortDash) 4 pixel dash,4 pixelgap

LC=6(Dash;Dot;Dot) 6 pixel dash,2 pixelgap,2 pixel dash, 2 pixelgap, 2 pixeldash,2 pixelgap

LC=7(LongDash;Dot) 9 pixeldash;2 pixelgap; 3 pixeldash;2pixel gapCreateNewAttachment(s)-Thissettingdetermineswhetherornotthenew

imagewillbeattachedtothe currentmodel. Bydefault, newly attachedimageswillhavethe transparency andclipping toggles turnedon.Whenthissetting isturnedoff,theFillClipped Area is turnedonanddisabled.

 

FillClippedArea-Whenon, theclippedareaextendingoutsideoftheattachedimageswillbefilledwiththebackgroundcolourofthecurrentMicroStationcolortable.This setting canonlybechangedwithCreateNewAttachmentisenabled.

 

TheResolutionareacontainsthe following options:

 

SetUsing-Providesanumberofoptionsthatdefinethesizeandresolutionoftheresultingraster.Thepossible valuesare:

PixelSizeandDPIPixelSizeandScale


PixelSizeandSheetSizeNumberofpixels andDPINumberof pixels andScaleNumberofpixels andSheetSizeDPIandScale

DPIandSheetSizeExistingRaster

Theselectedoptionwillenablethe appropriatefield forfurtherediting. Forexample,selectingPixel SizeandScale willenablethe PixelSize andScale fieldsforediting whileallother fieldswillremaingreyedout.

 

Whena fieldiseditedtheotherfields areupdated according tothenewvalue.

 

WorldArea-is calculatedwiththebounding boxaroundthe selectedarea.Theunits oftheworldareavaluesaretheModel´s workingunits.

 
PixelSize-ismeasuredintheworkingunitsofthe Model and arecalculatedbydividingtheWorldAreabythe Numberof Pixels.
 

NumberofPixels -issettothenumberofscreenpixelsintheselectedinputarea.DPI-is setto 300by default.

Scaleiscalculated bymultiplyingthe PixelSizebytheDPI.

 

SheetSize-is calculatedbydividing the WorldAreaby theScale. TheWorld Areavalues areconvertedtothesameunits asthe SheetSize multipliedbythe DPI.

 

SheetUnit-isused tospecifythe units oftheSheetSizefieldsonlycanbeset to:inches,millimetersorcentimeters.

 

BasedonRaster-IfExistingRasterisselectedintheSetUsingfield,thenallrastersthatare includedin themergeare listedinthis field.Inadditiontotherasters, an Average optionisincluded. Theappropriateresolutionfields areupdatedbasedupontheusingthegeoreferenceinformationfromeithertheselected rasterorthe averageofall rasters.Inthecasethatthe DPI isnotavailable,a valueof300 will beused by default.

 

TheOutputsectionprovidesoptions for thecreationofthefinaloutputimage.


OutputType-Use to determineifthe merge resultis stored inasinglefileor inmultiplefiles.WhenMultipleFilesisselected,themergetoolwill outputindividual rastersbaseduponamapsheet index. Themapsheet indexisaseparate model that contains avectorgridused tospecify theshapeandfilenamefor each rasterthatwillbecreated duringtheoutputprocess.Thenameisderived fromatextstringwithineachshapein themapsheetindex.Whenprocessingmultiple files, Descartes scansthemapsheet index modelforall textstrings.Onceastringislocated,itperformsafloodstartingatthestringoriginandcontinuesuntilaclosed regionisdefinedby vectorelements.The textinthestringserves astheimagename. Finally,ifthemapsheetindexhassdifferentcoordinatesystem, BentleyDescarteswillreprojectthedataasrequired.

 

OutputOptions- OpenstheRasterSave AsSettingsdialog allowing toedittheFormat, OptionsandGeographic Information forthe outputfile(s).

 

GridDefinition- IfMultipleFiles isselectedintheOutputType, thisfieldisenabledto setthefilethatcontainsthe vectorgraphicsfor themapsheet index.Themapsheetindex canresideinaseparate model intheactivedesign.

 

Model -Liststhe available models intheselecteddesignfile.Run-Runsthemergeoperation.

- Cancel-Closesthe dialogwithoutmakinganychanges.
