- What's New in OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition Update 7?

New Features and Capabilities

• Beginning with Map Update 7 the CONNECT Edition products have been renamed throughout the Bentley catalog and Domain.  Look for OpenCities Map Advanced CONNECT Edition and OpenCities Map Ultimate CONNECT Edition in Software Downloads and other locations and in the various references.
• A command line tool to incorporate DGN File data into spatial databases - DGN2DB.exe.  This tool has been expanded from its v8i-origins in the DGN2SDO program, to include both Oracle and PostGIS as spatial data storage models.
• The Geospatial Administrator now offers the option to use a Place by Key-in Command option in all Placement Methods.  This powerful option provides access to all Map, MicroStation, and 3rd-party software commands that can be initialized via a key-in.

Technology Preview Features

Note: Use the Configure option during software installation to select these items.

• Labeling has several enhancements such as: specifying label frequency, specifying area type to label, trimming labeled elements to the view, containing labels within a closed element, and setting the maximum label size factor.
• Label Collision Detection to detect and resolve text conflicts.
• Export Feature Definitions
  • This new tool allow you to create the feature definitions (Symbology & Properties) in the specified Schema for the Active Session (DGN File) Inferred Features.
  • You will find the Export Feature Definitions tools in the Map Admin workflow in the OpenCities Map Ribbon 
• The New Live Feature Detection Rules dialog
  • Create rules for inferred features definitions of the CAD elements in the file
  • Set property values for the inferred features based on each element's property information
  • You will find the Feature Detection Rules command in the Map Admin Workflow of the OpenCities Map Ribbon
