Decimal Precision in Bentley Map Mobile

Setting the Decimal Precision for Measurements in Bentley Map Mobile is achieved by selecting the Settings option on the mobile device, then Decimal Precision pull-down menu. The selection is an app setting and applies to measurements in all i-models.

 There are nine options to choose from, including no decimals.

Bentley Map Mobile Publisher

Publish Bentley Map and MicroStation data to Bentley Map Mobile i-model for use in mobile workflows.

Bentley Map Mobile Publisher is a free iWare application for Bentley Map that produces next generation i-models from Bentley Map and MicroStation project data. The user selects the features to be published, defines display order and identifies which business properties should be indexed for free text searching. The 2D or 3D design file data and raster imagery is then published into an i-model for transfer to Bentley Map Mobile running on Android or iOS tablets or 64-bit Windows 7, 8 or 10 desktop or tablet devices.

The Bentley Map Mobile i-model is a compact and scalable format, capable of handling extremely large datasets containing millions of assets. It stores all 2D and 3D vector geometries, business properties, geographic coordinate system information, saved views and raster data and more.

OpenCities Map V8i provides Map Finishing tools which were formerly available in a product called CADscript. To access the Map Finishing tools  in OpenCities Map V8i, launch your DGN in the msgeo_mapfinishing workspace.  The following is a tool comparison between Map Finishing and CADscript.

Note:  The Map Finishing tools are not available in OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition.  To do so, it's recommended that you also install the V8i (SELECTseries 10) edition of Map to gain access to the most current Map and Map Finishing tools.  You can then return to using the CONNECT edition to continue your geospatial work.  In this case, the same license is used meaning that you can run SELECTseries 10 and CONNECT simultaneously without incurring additional license fees.

See what's new in the latest release of OpenCities Map:

CityGML video

Save time

  • Split and Merge 3D polygons is more then 10 time faster and with a single step. This feature is only available in OpenCities Map Enterprise.

 Accelerate workflow

  • 3DBuffer – Create automatically CityGML LOD 1 from legacy 2D building footprints. It increases the value of the legacy 2D data by creating a 3D layer from it that shares the same semantic information. This feature is only available in OpenCities Map Enterprise.
  • Auto-Promote – DGN elements placed on reserved levels can be promoted to XFM features automatically with AutoPromote. Ready to be written to Spatial databases. Having a spatial database is a point of integration with OpenCities Planner.
  • With the Export to DGN, it is easier to share GIS assets with BIM applications and is a point of interoperability with other Bentley products.
  • A solid or smart solid can now be promoted to a 3D polygon collection.

New Features

  • 3D models can be exported to LumenRT software for visualizing your design in real time. The LumenRT tool is located in the Visualization workflow. If LumenRT is not installed on your machine, an alert window displays asking if you want to install it. This feature is only available with OpenCities Map Enterprise. For additional information, see the LumenRT
  • Defined views in PostGIS are now discoverable when registering features in the Geospatial Administrator.
  • When creating a Print Model, the list of available layers is now synchronized with the Map Manager in the Legend Options dialog.
  • The key-in FENCE STROKE has been restored.
  • The Map workflow is now active by default. In previous versions, the Drawing workflow was the default.

Technology Preview Features

  • Support for CityGML data including:
    • A delivered sample schema named CityModel.
    • Imported and exporting CityGML data via the Interoperability dialog.
    • Promote to CityGML
    • CityGML Editing
    • CityGML settings for Split Polygon.
    • 3D Smart Editing for CityGML data.
  • Labeling has several enhancements such as: specifying label frequency, specifying area type to label, trimming labeled elements to the view, containing labels within a closed element, and setting the maximum label size factor.
  • Label Collision Detection to detect and resolve text conflicts.

V8i Task Navigation in OpenCities Map CONNECT

Adding the V8i Task Navigation option to an OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition ribbon is accomplished during the Setup stage of the product. The Task Navigation option is listed in the Technology Preview section. These steps will illustrate how to add the Task Navigation option to the OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition menus.

When presented with the Installation dialog box, first choose the Configure option.

From the Configure stage, enable the Display V8i mode UI by selecting the check-box. 

Select the Done button and continue to install the product.

Select Finish when Installation is complete.

Initialize OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition and select a DGN File.

     

From here, Using the V8i Task Navigation options are the same as in MicroStation.   You can now easily turn on the V8i Task Theme from the Select V8i Mode drop-down in the Quick Access toolbar.
